Get your article published in a national newspaper

This is your chance to write an article that will be published in a national weekly newspaper. The Times Educational Supplement is read by hundreds of thousands of teachers in Britain and has other readers across the world.

The brief

The newspaper is looking for a 500 to 550 word comment article in which you give your view on some aspect of education. Based on your experience, what part of the school system (or further education) do you think should be changed and why? The piece can be funny, serious, or both.

The prize

The best piece will be published in The Times Educational Supplement (TES) and you will be paid £300. You may be invited back to write more articles, and you will have the option of coming in to The TES offices for an exclusive week’s work experience. Entries will be judged by Michael Shaw, the newspaper’s opinion editor.

The killer tip

“Remember who your readers are – in this case they are teachers, and they are an intelligent bunch.”

    Hi
The deadline for this set of commissions is the end of November, and if you click on ‘Submit your work’ at the very top of this page you can see how to send it to us.
If you miss out on these commissions, don’t worry – we’ll have a brand new set of fantastic challenges for December.
