We put teenagers (13-19 year olds) in direct contact with working professionals in the creative industries, giving them invaluable vocational experience and helping them to produce high-quality creative work that they can use for future college, university and job applications.
We achieve this through our online platform, through live workshops, and through a range of one-off projects.
The creative industries are a growing sector of the economy in the UK, and include the media, advertising, architecture, crafts, design, fashion, film and video, music, performing arts, publishing, TV, radio and computer game design.
On our free homepage you'll find details of upcoming Trashed projects, and other creative projects that teenagers can involved with.
In the Members section of our website we host a constantly updated bank of resources relating to the creative industries. The key elements are:
These are creative projects that students can complete. They could be anything from creating a street art photo gallery to writing an investigative report, or reviewing a book to compiling a trend report. All the commissions are set by working professionals. Students submit their work, and get feedback on it, and then the final edited work is promoted on the website. Students can use their pieces as an online 'cuttings' portfolio for future college, university or job applications.
These are there to help the students complete the Commissions, and to give them skills that they can use on other projects in school or in their own time. The How To's are produced by working professionals, and cover everything from uploading video to the web and design tips, to research and writing skills.
Through our network of contacts in the creative industries we can source exclusive interviews (with from top music performers, politicians, sporting figures and more), opportunities to meet and work with professionals, and other one-off experiences. These are promoted in the Members section of the website, and the students who produce the best creative work will get the chance to do them.
We have an expanding bank of profiles of working creative professionals, written by themselves. These range from journalists and designers, to promoters and entrepreneurs. They give teenagers an invaluable insight into the jobs that are available in the creative industries.

Access to the Trashed web platform is charged to secondary schools on a subscription basis, currently costing £2000 per year or £700 per term. This allows an unlimited number of students at the school to access the platform - all that's needed is an internet connection.
If you are a representative from a Local Education Authority and would be interested in signing up a group of schools, we can offer a substantial discount. Please contact us to discuss this.
"Trashed offers an excellent opportunity for students to use skills that might not be recognised in the normal curriculum. The fact that all outcomes are in the real world is an enormous incentive for the kids and great preparation for the real working world.
Students have a chance to develop useful skills that can be used in the creative industries. The best part is that they can focus on genuine areas of interest that appeal to their peers and themselves – the programme is good meeting point between functional skills and extra-curricular activities."
