Review: Underage Festival '09
by William Knox

Victoria Park was blessed with warm sunshine on August 2 for the annual Underage Festival! With tickets selling for weeks at £16.50, Mile End and Bethnal Green tube stations were swarming with 14-18 year-olds making their way to the aprk. All together there were seven different stages! The two main ones were the Topman tent and the Converse stage that were boasting performances from Tinchy Stryder, The Pigeon Detectives and many, many more.

The opening artists really got the party started with insance performances from Hadouken on the Converse stage and Caspa in the Topman tent. Halfway through the festival the crowds then seen running to give performers Mystery Jets and Kid British warm welcomes on the Converse stage and in the Youth Music tent.

As the festival was drawing to an end the 5.30pm performance from Tinchy Stryder saw the Topman tent overflowing with what seemed to be all the teenagers from the festival. His 30 minute performance had the ground shaking with hundreds of youths jumping up and down to songs such as 'Stryderman', 'Number One' and 'Take Me Back'. In my opinion this was the best performance of the festival.

Finally as it reached seven o'clock the Converse stage was once again filled to the brim with screaming girls and cheering boys ready to greet The Pigeon Detectives who brought the festival to an end with their indie hits!

On the whole the festival turned out to be a fantastic success, with 2010 promising to be even better… if that's possible
